No. 3 Minnesota to Face Bemidji State on the Road

MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 3 ranked Golden Gopher women's hockey squad will go back on the road this weekend to match up against Bemidji State. The two teams will face off at Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn. on Friday, Nov. 1 at 3:00 p.m. CT and Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2:00 p.m. CT. Fans can watch Friday's game live on B1G+ and Saturday's game live on both FOX 9+ and B1G+.
Last Time Out
The Maroon and Gold are coming off a sweep against in-state WCHA rival Minnesota State last weekend. The Gophers and Beavers faced off in a home-and-home series that saw Minnesota win 8-2 on Friday in Minneapolis and 3-2 (OT) on Saturday in Mankato, Minn. With Friday's victory, Minnesota became the first program in history to reach 500 all-time WCHA conference wins. Twelve different Gophers notched a point over the weekend, a season-high for the team.
Scouting the Beavers
First-year head coach Amber Fryklund and the Bemidji State Beavers hold a 1-8-1 record through the first ten games of the season. The Beavers tallied their first win of the season on Oct. 18 in a 6-3 matchup against Lindenwood. Bemidji State is coming off a series against No. 1 Wisconsin, where the team went 0-2. The Gophers hold a 94-9-7 all-time record over the Beavers and have won the last 22 games in the series.

The Maroon and Gold had various players make an impact through the first ten games of the season. Redshirt-senior Abbey Murphy leads the team with 13 points (7g-6a). Murphy has notched at least one point in eight out of the Gophers' ten games. Following Murphy is junior forward Josefin Bouveng and fifth-year forward Natalie Mlynkova, who have each tallied 10 points (both 3g-7a). Junior Sydney Morrow and freshman Chloe Primerano both lead Minnesota defenders with six points on the season (3g-3a and 1g-5a, respectively). Freshman goaltender Hannah Clark holds a record 2-1-1 on the season with a .905 save percentage.
Attacking the Net
The No. 4 Golden Gophers have outshot opponents 328-199 through their first ten games of the season, with Minnesota averaging 32.8 SOG per game. 13 different Maroon and Gold student-athletes have notched at least one goal on the season so far.
Milestones on the Horizon
The University of Minnesota women's hockey program sits at an all-time overall record of 783-179-64 and is on pace to reach the 800-win mark this season. Redshirt-senior Abbey Murphy has recorded 77 career goals and will be in pursuit of the century mark this season after leading the nation in scores (33) in 2023-24. Additionally, Murphy has recorded 143 career points, needing just seven points to reach the 150 mark. Senior forwards Peyton Hemp and Ella Huber will seek to reach triple digits in career points this season, having tallied 97 and 98 career points, respectively, so far. Junior defender Nelli Laitinen sits at 46 career points and is on pace to reach 50 career points this season.
Quest for Eighth National Title
Minnesota has won seven national championships (2000, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016) and looks for a historic eighth title national crown in 2024-25.
