'U' Posts Three Race Wins at Head of the Mississippi Regatta

Gophers opened 2024-25 rowing season Saturday
MINNEAPOLIS - The Golden Gophers rowing team battled against difficult conditions during their season-opening Head of the Mississippi Regatta Saturday and tallied victories in every event.
Facing choppy waters from 20-plus-MPH winds along a nearly 5,000-meter course on the Mississippi River, Minnesota remained focused and was able to execute across each boat to post three wins.
The Maroon and Gold finished in four of the top five spots to begin the day with the Collegiate 4+ race and continued the winning trend as its novice team took to the water for the first time. Minnesota placed first and second in the Collegiate Freshman 8+ event in their Gophers' debut.
In the final action of the day, the 'U' swept the top three spots of the Collegiate 8+, including its top boat that tallied a win by more than 30 seconds.
The Gophers also had three boats full of alumni return to campus and compete Saturday in the Women's Open 8+.
