Millard Takes B1G Freshman of the Week Honors

MINNEAPOLIS -- An undefeated 3-0 weekend has garnered Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for Minnesota's Charlie Millard, the conference announced Thursday.
Competing at the Daktronics Open, Millard, a true freshman, won all three of his matches at 157 pounds by major decision, outscoring opponents 37-9.
Millard started his day with a 13-4 victory over Nebraska's Dez Gartrell, while the biggest triumph was a 13-4 major over No. 14 Cobe Siebrecht of South Dakota State, the first ranked win of Millard's career. Millard then closed out the day with an 11-1 win over Oklahoma's Carter Schubert.
Millard, who also won the Bison Open in his collegiate debut, is 6-1 on the season with three wins by major decision and one by tech fall.
The recognition marks the second straight week that the Gophers have taken home Freshman of the Week honors as Max McEnelly won it last week.
