SAN DIEGO, Calif - The Minnesota Golden Gophers fell 3-2 in an eight-inning matchup to the No. 25 Kentucky Wildcats Saturday.

Sophomore Sydney Schwartz (1-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Minnesota (3-2). The right-hander went three innings, giving up one run without giving up a hit, allowing four walks and striking out one. Senior Bri Enter started the ballgame and went five innings, surrendering two runs, both earned, on six hits, walking one and striking out three.

Offensively, the Golden Gophers were led by freshman Nani Valencia, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a double and two RBI. Sophomore Breezy Burnett put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-2 with a walk.

Trailing 1-0, the Golden Gophers first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Minnesota scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Valencia. The Golden Gophers were unable to hold the lead, as Kentucky scored two times over the remaining four innings to grab the 3-2 win.
