Minnesota Earns OT Point, but Falls to Wisconsin in Game One

MADISON, Wis. -- The No. 5 University of Minnesota women's hockey team (24-6-1) forced overtime, but ultimately fell to No. 2 Wisconsin (27-4-0), 4-3 at LaBahn Arena on Friday night.
Peyton Hemp opened the scoring with her 12th goal of the season to give the Gophers a 1-0 lead at the first intermission. Nicholson and Ava Lindsay combined to assist on the opening goal. Wisconsin responded in period two with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead into the final frame.
Josefin Bouveng knotted things up with her 12th goal of the season early in the third period. Wisconsin responded 2:27 later to retake the lead. Bouveng answered the Badger tally with her second goal of the period with just 1:01 to go to force overtime.
Wisconsin's Laila Edwards scored in overtime to win it for the home team.
Skylar Vetter stopped 31 shots, but suffered her fifth loss of the season. Wisconsin's Jane Gervais made 26 saves to earn the victory.
