Heyer's double double is her fifth of the season and 10th in her career.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Sophomore Mallory Heyer collected her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds, but the Minnesota women's basketball team fell to the Nebraska Cornhuskers 70-51 in Lincoln on Saturday.

The Golden Gophers (15-12, 5-11 B1G) had three players score in double figures, led by Heyer, while Amaya Battle tacked on 12 points, six rebounds and four assists and freshman Grace Grocholski helped out with 10 points.

How It Happened

Minnesota struggled out of the gate, falling behind 20-8 at the end of the first quarter. Nebraska kept adding to that lead, building a 24-8 advantage before Minnesota went on a 6-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Niamya Holloway, to narrow its deficit to 24-14. Nebraska responded and expanded its lead, leaving the Golden Gophers trailing 34-21 heading into halftime.

Minnesota's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Golden Gophers faced a 50-32 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Minnesota played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 11 points in the paint.

Nebraska kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 70-41 advantage before Minnesota went on a 10-0 run, finished off by Janay Sanders' layup, to shrink the deficit to 70-51 with 20 seconds to go in the contest. Minnesota fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 19 points.
