Gophers Finish Tied for 12th at Mountain View Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The University of Minnesota women's golf team played the final 18 holes of the Mountain View Collegiate earlier today. As a team, the Gophers improved by six strokes from round two and moved up the leaderboard one place to finish tied for 12th with Southern Mississippi. They leave Tucson with a tournament score of 302-293-287-882 (+18).
Both graduate Grace Curran and senior Hailey Loh shot a two-under-par 70 to lead Minnesota in round three.
South Florida was crowned champion with a three-day score of 282-289-277-848 (-16).
Notable:
Isabella McCauley led the Gophers individually to finish tied for 11th place. The sophomore notched four birdies and 11 pars in round three and had a final score of 68-73-72-213 (-3).
Curran improved by three strokes between rounds two and three. The graduate tied for 34th place with a three-round score of 76-73-70-219 (+3).
Loh shot her best round of the tournament today carding a 70 (-2). She tied for 52nd place and had a final score of 82-72-70-224 (+8).
Graduate Megan Furtney rolled home one birdie and 12 pars in round three. She had a three-round score 78-75-78-231 (+15).
Graduate Emma Carpenter improved by five strokes between rounds two and three. She notched one birdie and 13 pars in round three to end the event with a score of 80-80-75-235 (+19).

"Although we bounced back well today, we're disappointed in our overall finish," said head coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "We need to put together three quality rounds to compete and we've missed that mark in the last three events. Fortunately, we have two more events to right the ship."
