V8 boat earns first weekly award of 2024

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Minnesota rowing was recognized by the Big Ten Conference Tuesday as its First Varsity Eight crew was named the B1G Boat of the Week.
 
The First Varsity Eight boat took down Gonzaga by more than three seconds with the fastest time of the day, 6:36.46, from the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center March 10. The season-opening victory sealed the dual win over the Bulldogs as the Maroon and Gold claimed three of the five completed races against the eight-time defending West Coast Conference champions.
 
It's the first weekly award for the Golden Gophers since April 27, 2021, when the First Varsity Eight was named the B1G Boat of the Week.
