Minnesota Ends Day One of The Bruzzy in Seventh

ARDMORE, Okla. -- The University of Minnesota women's golf team completed the first 36 holes of play today at The Bruzzy. The Gophers moved up five places on the leaderboard after improving by 19 strokes between sessions. Minnesota is currently in seventh place with a score of 300-281--581 (+21).
Sophomore Isabella McCauley and graduate Grace Curran lead the Gophers tied for 13th place after each posting a two round score of 144 (+4).
Arkansas sits on top of the leaderboard with a day-one total of 570 (+10).

"After a messy first round, we dug in to post the low round in the afternoon," said head coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "Really proud of the 'heart' in this team. We've got so much talent and when it clicks we can win. Another good effort tomorrow and we've got a chance to walk away with a win."
Notable:
McCauley led the Gophers in the first round with a three-over-par 73 and improved by two strokes to post a 71 (+1) in round two. The sophomore tallied seven birdies and 19 pars to end day one tied for 13th place.
Curran is also tied for 13th place after the first two rounds of play. She improved by six strokes between sessions, adding seven birdies and 20 pars in the first two rounds. The graduate completed the day with a score of 75-69-144 (+4).
Graduate Megan Furtney posted a day one score of 77-70-147 (+7). She notched three birdies and 24 pars to end the day tied for 30th place.
Graduate Emma Carpenter improved by six strokes between sessions, adding six birdies and 20 pars. She is tied for 32nd place with a two-round score of 77-71-148 (+8).
Senior Hailey Loh posted a two-round score of 75-78-153 (+13). She notched three birdies and 20 pars and ended the first day tied for 56th place.
