The Gophers picked up another win on Tuesday evening over the Spartans

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Minnesota Golden Gophers needed eight innings to get the job done, but pulled off the 8-6 extra-innings victory over the UNC Greensboro Spartans Tuesday.

Senior Bri Enter (6-3) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minnesota (10-8). The right-hander went four innings, giving up one run on three hits, allowing one walk and striking out three.

Senior Morgan DeBord led the way offensively for the Golden Gophers, going 3-for-3 in the ballgame with a double. Senior Sydney Strelow put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Junior Taylor Krapf also helped out, going 1-for-2 for Minnesota with a walk and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Golden Gophers were trailing 2-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Minnesota got on the board thanks to sophomore Addison Leschber's RBI double with two outs.

The Spartans expanded their lead to 5-1 before the Golden Gophers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the third. Minnesota scored once on an RBI single off the bat of junior Kayla Chavez, which tightened the Spartans lead to 5-2.

Minnesota kept the Spartans off the scoreboard before rallying to tie it up at five in the fifth. The Golden Gophers recorded three runs, one on sophomore Jess Oakland's run-scoring single.

The Spartans broke the tie and grabbed the lead heading into the seventh inning, when Minnesota got back on the board. The Golden Gophers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Krapf, tying the score at 6-6.

That 6-6 tie turned into an 8-6 Golden Gophers lead in the eighth. Strelow's run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Minnesota scored twice. The score remained 8-6 for the rest of the game, as the Golden Gophers held on for the win.
