Gophers Split with Badgers in Midweek Doubleheader

Wisconsin won the first game, Minnesota won the second
GAME 1 | Wisconsin 3, Minnesota 0
MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Minnesota fell to Wisconsin in game one as senior Tessa Magnanimo tossed a no-hitter for Wisconsin, leading the Badgers past the Golden Gophers 3-0.
Senior Bri Enter (12-7) got the ball to start for Minnesota (21-19, 7-6 B1G) and took the loss. The right-hander went five innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on four hits, allowing two walks and striking out one. Senior Jacie Hambrick was a bright spot for the Gophers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two innings, giving up one run on one hit, with no walks and one strikeout.
Offensively, the Gophers were led by sophomore Jess Oakland, who went 0-for-2 on the day with a walk.

Minnesota didn't manage to advance a runner past first base in the ballgame.

GAME 2 | Minnesota 7, Wisconsin 3
MINNEAPOLIS, MN -Â Sophomore Jess Oakland racked up five RBIs to help lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers past the Wisconsin Badgers 7-3 on Wednesday in game two.
Freshman Macy Richardson (4-4) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minnesota (22-19, 8-6 B1G). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out four.
Oakland went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and a walk in addition to her five RBIs for the Gophers. Senior Sydney Strelow compiled a standout effort as well, going 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and an RBI. Senior Morgan DeBord also contributed for Minnesota, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gophers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Minnesota got on the board thanks to Oakland's RBI double.
The Gophers then held the Badgers scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Minnesota managed to push across two runs in the inning, which brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the Gophers.
Wisconsin came back to tie the ballgame at three before Minnesota reclaimed a 6-3 advantage in the fourth inning. The Gophers scored three runs, all of them coming on a three-run homer from Oakland that scored DeBord and Strelow.
Minnesota held the Badgers scoreless before their offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. The Gophers drove home a run when Oakland drew a walk that scored sophomore Addison Leschber, bringing the Minnesota advantage to 7-3. The score remained 7-3 for the rest of the game, as the Gophers coasted to the win.
