Pair of Gophers Garner Big Ten Honors

MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota golfer Ben Warian has been named Second Team All-Big Ten, the conference announced Tuesday.Â
A senior, Warian has competed in all 12 tournaments for the Gophers this year and leads the team with a scoring average of 70.31. He has 11 top-20 finishes this season, including a win at the High Meadows Intercollegiate, where he set the program's 36-hole scoring record (128), 54-hole scoring record (198), and led the Gophers' to their first win since 2022.Â
This is Warian's second straight year receiving all-conference honors after also being placed on the second team a year ago when he set the program's single season scoring record (70.69).
In addition, graduate student Jacob Pedersen has been named the Gophers' Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree. The native of Minnetonka, Minn., has competed in all 12 tournaments this season for the Maroon and Gold with a 72.70 scoring average. Pedersen's nomination as Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree is his first conference honor since joining the Maroon and Gold.Â
