Minnesota Sits Fifth After Day One of Big Ten Championships

NORTH PLAINS, Ore. - The University of Minnesota men's golf team sits tied for fifth place after Friday's first round of the 2026 Big Ten Conference Championships.Ā 

The Golden Gophers finished with an overall score of 5-over-par (285), tying with Northwestern. The Maroon and Gold trails Illinois, UCLA, Washington, and Nebraska on the leaderboard.

Illinois sits in first place with a score of 1-under-par (279). Three golfers finished tied for first among the field with matching scores of 3-under-par (67).Ā 

Notable Performances:Ā 
Sophomore Chun-Ta Wu recorded a team-best score of 1-under-par (69), tying for sixth overall. He gathered three birdies during the first 18 holes.Ā 

Sophomore Jack Crousore shot 1-over-par (71) during the opening round, picking up four birdies. He is tied for 16th place.Ā 

Freshman Torger Ohe is tied for 26th place among all golfers, registering a score of 2-over-par (72). He collected three birdies in the front nine during his championship debut.

Senior Cormac Sharpe and freshman Joe Honsa carded matching scores of 3-over-par (73) to tie for 41st place. Sharpe accumulated three birdies during the first round, while Honsa picked up four.
