Gophers Head to Oregon for Big Ten Championships

NORTH PLAINS, Ore. - The University of Minnesota men's golf team travels west for the 2026 Big Ten Conference Championships May 1-3, held at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. The first and second rounds will begin as early as 11:30 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday. The third round will commence at 11:30 a.m. CT Sunday morning with live coverage of the final round set to air on Big Ten Network.

The Golden Gophers concluded their regular season at the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational, finishing in sixth place with a team score of 43-over-par.Ā 

Chun-Ta Wu led the Maroon and Gold with a score of 5-over-par (218), tying for 12th place among the field for his fourth top-20 finish of the season. The sophomore participated in all 11 tournaments throughout the season, recording a team-low stroke average of 71.7.Ā 

Five Gophers competed in 10 tournaments during the season, including sophomore Jack Crousore and freshman Joe Honsa, who participated in team competition for all events. Crousore placed inside the top 10 three times, including a tournament title at the Robert Kepler Invitational (Apr. 11-12). Honsa has shot under par during three events this season, earning a career-best, 54-hole mark of 5-under-par during The Johnnie-O (Mar. 9-10).Ā 

Wu, Crousore, and senior Cormac Sharpe participated in the Big Ten Championships last year in Baltimore, Md., helping Minnesota place tenth among the field. Crousore shot even during the three-day tournament, tying for a team-best seventh place.Ā

The Field:Ā 
Minnesota will compete against the remaining 17 Big Ten Conference programs over the next three days, including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Wisconsin.Ā 

Gophers' Lineup:Ā 
Wu, Crousore, Honsa, freshman Torger Ohe, and Sharpe will participate in team competition during the three-day tournament. Senior Jack Wetzel will travel as Minnesota's alternate.

The Course:Ā 
The Big Ten Men's Golf Championships will take place at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore., on the Witch Hollow course. This course has hosted various events since its opening in 1992, including Tiger Woods' victory at the United States Golf Association's 1996 U.S. Amateur Championship, the 2003 U.S. Women's Open Championship, and more. The course scores at a par 72 while covering 7,015 yards.
