Minnesota is staying active this week

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Golden Gophers gymnastics team is staying busy this week with the U.S. Olympic Trials in town. The 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials are taking place from June 27-30 at Target Center in Minneapolis. Fans will get to watch the country's best gymnasts vie for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team. At the conclusion of competition, USA Gymnastics will announce the 2024 Olympic Team for artistic gymnastics live in front of the Target Center audience. The 2024 Summer Olympics will begin on July 26, 2024 in Paris, France.

The week started with the team talking about their favorite Olympic gymnasts of all-time at practice.  Many of the Gophers gymnasts have had the chance to meet Olympians in the past and shared with the team on social media. On Thursday, June 27, the team will have a very busy day, correlating with the official start of the trials. At 11 a.m., the Gophers will be participating in the Promenade Welcome Dance outside Nicollet Mall. They'll then head back to Peik Gym, where the Gophers will host an open voluntary training for fans to come see from 1-4 p.m. After the training, the student-athletes will stick around for a meet-and-greet, hosted by Dinkytown Athletes.

On Sunday, June 30, most of the team will be at the USA Gymnastics Flip Zone outside Target Center from 4:30-7 p.m. The team will be hanging out, taking pictures and signing autographs for fans. All are welcome to come out and see the Gophers!
