Seventeen Gophers Take Part in NHL Development Camps

13 different NHL teams represented
MINNEAPOLIS - Seventeen past and present members of the University of Minnesota men's hockey program recently took part in National Hockey League development camps representing 13 different professional organizations.
Included in that group are 15 players ready for the Golden Gophers' lineup in 2024-25, incorporating six newcomers to the team, after spending time with NHL coaches and staff during the summer.
The attendees also feature the three members of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft class after Erik Påhlsson, John Whipple, and Brodie Ziemer joined the historic list of all-time draft selections in June.
Former Gophers Jaxon Nelson (2019-24) and Chaz Lucius (2021-22) also took part in development camps as they continue their hockey careers. Nelson made his professional debut with the AHL's Providence Bruins on April 5 and played seven regular season games before taking the ice in all four playoff outings. Lucius has appeared in 23 AHL games over the last two seasons with the Manitoba Moose but has suffered season-ending injuries in both campaigns.
The 2024-25 campaign gets underway in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 11-12 as the Maroon and Gold host the Men's Ice Breaker Tournament at Orleans Arena. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased HERE.
