Ava Stewart Schedule for Canada Gymnastics

Stewart is the first Gopher gymnast to compete in the Olympics

PARIS, France -- Gophers incoming gymnast Ava Stewart continues to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics this week for for Team Canada.

Stewart has made history for the Gophers, becoming the first women's gymnast at Minnesota to compete at the Olympics. Former Gopher Marie Roethlisberger was an alternate on the 1984 U.S. Olympic Team.

Stewart and Team Canada placed sixth in the Artistic Gymnastics team qualifications on Sunday, punching their ticket to the Women's Team Final.

It's the first time in 12 years that Canada has made the final.

Canada posted a team score of 161.563, behind only Team USA (172.296), Italy (166.861), China (166.628), Brazil (166.628) and Japan (162.196).

Ava Stewart finished with a total of 52.332 in the all-around, placing 26th overall. She went 13.600 on vault, 13.466 on bars, 12.633 on beam and 12.633 on floor. For her second straight Olympics, Ava made the all-around final, which is set for Thursday, Aug. 1 at 11:15 a.m. CT.

Stewart and Canada will take part in the Women's Team Final on Tuesday, July 30 at 11 a.m. CT on NBC/Peacock.

Aug. 1 - Women's all-around final: The women's all-around final is set for Thursday, Aug. 1 at 11:15 a.m. CT on NBC and Peacock.

Stewart is competing in her second Olympics after competing in Tokyo in 2021 as just a 15-year-old. In July of 2022, Stewart competed at the Pan American Championships where she helped Canada finish third as a team. At the 2024 Canadian National Championships, she was the Bars National Champion while also finishing second in the all-around.

She graduated from high school in the spring of 2023 and will officially be on campus to join the Gophers this fall, prior to the 2025 NCAA season.
