Ava Stewart and Canada Take Fifth at Women's Team Final

It ties Canada's highest performance in team history

PARIS, France -- Gophers incoming freshman Ava Stewart and Team Canada placed fifth in the Artistic Gymnastics Women's Team Final this afternoon, tying their best-ever Olympics finish. Canada also finished fifth in 2012 and 1984.

Canada posted a team score of 162.432, behind only Team USA (171.296), Italy (165.494), Brazil (164.497) and Great Britain (164.263).

Ava Stewart competed in every event besides floor for Canada, where she earned scores of 13.300 on vault, 13.500 on bars (tied for team-best) and 13.800 on beam.

For her second straight Olympics, Ava made the all-around final, which is set for Thursday, Aug. 1 at 11:15 a.m. CT on NBC/Peacock.

Stewart signed with Minnesota last year and will enroll at the University during the start of the fall 2024 semester. She'll have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2025 season.
