Mya Hooten Named Big Ten Co-Event Specialist of the Week

Hooten went 9.950 on vault, 9.900 on floor
MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota fifth-year senior Mya Hooten was named Big Ten Co-Event Specialist of the Week on Tuesday, the conference Big Ten announced. It's the first time this season and 12th time in her career she's taken home the award.
Hooten hit a 9.950 on vault and a 9.900 on the floor this past Saturday at New Hampshire. Both tallies were season-highs and she earned event titles on both events. Hooten has won four event titles combined in Minnesota's two meets this season.
She currently ranks fourth in the nation (first in Big Ten) on vault, according to Road to Nationals. She holds a 9.925 average on the event.
The No. 21 Gophers (2-0, 0-0 B1G) open Big Ten play on Saturday, Jan. 18 against No. 16 Penn State (5-1, 0-0 B1G). The meet will begin at 4 p.m. CT on B1G+ at Maturi Pavilion.
