The Gophers are the lowest seed to make a Final Four
Competing with the Gophers for a shot at a national title are No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 LSU and No. 3 Florida. Minnesota and Oklahoma advanced out of the night session while LSU and Florida emerged over Georgia and Stanford in the afternoon session.
The Gophers (30-10, 7-2 B1G) finished second in the Big Ten regular season standings and took third at the 12-team Big Ten Championships before placing second (197.625) behind UCLA (197.750) at the Regional Finals to punch their ticket to nationals. They outlasted UCLA (197.2750) and Arkansas (196.9625) with a score of 197.4625 to advance to the Final Four with Oklahoma (198.300).

2026 SEASON IN REVIEW
- The Minnesota gymnastics team enters Four on the Floor with a 30-10 (7-2 B1G) record. They've competed against a difficult schedule far, but have posted a 18-8 record against top-25 ranked teams.
- After going 1-1 in their first meet at No. 5 Utah and vs. Iowa, Minnesota took down consecutive top-10 ranked opponents in No. 10 Arkansas and No. 5 Michigan at home. They also won Feb. 14 at No. 16 PSU for their first road win.
Following a loss at NU on Jan. 24, Minnesota won consecutive 197+ performances with a 197.050 win over Iowa and a 197.275 in a defeat to No. 5 UCLA. - The Gophers defeated Washington in their meet on Feb. 20, winning 196.950-196.300 to earn their second straight road win.
Minnesota had its second-best performance of the season March 1 at the Big 4, scoring a Big Ten-best 197.700. Bars, beam and floor had their best scores of the season and Arianna Ostrum won the all-around, bars and floor titles. - The 'U' fell at North Carolina on March 6, 197.200-196.925.
March 15 was the performance of the season with a 197.825. Arianna Ostrum hit a perfect 10 on vault and won vault, floor, AA titles, Lyden won on bars/beam and Slevin tied for the bars title with a 9.950. - In the regional semifinal, Minnesota came from behind to finish second behind UCLA. They trailed Iowa by almost two tenths before going 49.450 on beam to punch their ticket to Sunday's regional final.
- In the regional final, Minnesota rallied to top No. 5 Alabama and No. 12 Utah to punch their ticket to nationals with No. 4 UCLA.
- The 'U' holds 46 event titles this year across 15 meets, led by freshman Arianna Ostrum with 14 and junior Jordyn Lyden with 13.
Minnesota ranks 13th overall in the Road to Nationals rankings, placing 15th on vault, 17th on bars, 12th on beam and 14th on the floor. - The 'U' is 9-1 at home this year, 2-3 on the road and 19-6 at neutral sites.
NATIONALS HISTORY
- Minnesota has made nationals seven times in the history of the program. Those years were 1997 (10th, 194.775), 2002 (9th, 195.700), 2013 (8th, 196.375), 2016 (12th, 194.988), 2021 (8th, 197.1875), 2022 (6th, 197.1125) and 2026 (TBD, 197.4625).
- The Gophers set their previous program-best with a sixth place finish in 2022, topping 2013 and 2021 eighth place finishes. In that NCAA Semi, the 'U' went up against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 4 Utah, No. 5 Alabama. The 'U' overtook Alabama (197.1000) and Michigan (196.2875) to take 6th.
NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS SEMIFINALS RECAP
- The No. 13 Minnesota gymnastics team made history by becoming the lowest ever seed to advance to Four on the Floor on Thursday night in Fort Worth, Texas. The 'U' punched its ticket to its first ever Final Four with a second place finish. Minnesota posted a score of 197.4625, its best ever score at nationals. The Gophers trailed UCLA by nearly .2000 heading into the last rotation before rallying on bars to grab the second spot.
- Senior Brooklyn Rowray became the second Golden Gopher in program history to win an individual national title, joining Marie Roethlisberger in 1990. She took home the beam title all by herself with a 9.9625.
- The Gophers earned scores of 49.2500 on vault, 49.3875 on bars, 49.3875 on beam and 49.4375 on floor.
- Six Gophers earned NCAA Championships All-America honors Thursday, a program record. Crump, Lyden, Moraw, Ostrum, Rowray and Saltzmann.
- "I'm so proud of these guys," said head coach Jenny Hansen. "They believed we could do this and they just walked in with that belief. They were steady all the way through and I'm just so proud of them. I'm still a little in disbelief. What a night."
GOPHER NOTES TO KNOW
- Minnesota is in its seventh nationals appearance and first ever Four on the Floor. Regardless of what happens on Saturday, this will be the best season in school history. The Gophers had never finished better than sixth at nationals.
- Six Gophers earned NCAA Championships All-America honors on Thursday night, a program-record. Their previous-best was five in 2021.
- This is the first-ever 30-win season in Golden Gophers program history. Jenny Hansen has won 25+ in three straight seasons.
- Jenny Hansen has been a part of Minnesota gymnastics for six of its seven NCAA Championships appearances. She was on the team as a gymnast for one (2002), an assistant coach for another (2013) and the head coach for four (2016, 2021, 2022, 2026).
- Gianna Gerdes is the first Gopher to compete in three nationals with her team (2021, 2022, 2026).
HANSEN THRIVING IN YEAR 12 AT MINNESOTA
- Head coach Jenny Hansen is in her 12th season at the helm of the Minnesota gymnastics program. Overall, she holds a 264-141-1 record and a 77-33 mark in the Big Ten.
- Under the watch of coach Hansen, the Gophers took home the 2021 Big Ten title, their first conference championships crown since 2006 and the program's sixth ever. They also won the 2016 B1G regular season title, the programs third (2013/2014). In 2022, Minnesota set a program-record by finishing sixth (197.1125) at the NCAA Championships.
- They've made 11 NCAA Regionals appearances, including five of the last six regional finals, under her leadership. They've now made four nationals appearances and will finish a program-best in 2026.
ROWRAY WINS NATIONAL TITLE ON BEAM
- Senior beam specialist Brooklyn Rowray has been a team leader on the balance beam during her career, especially during the last month. In her last eight beam routines, she's earned 9.925-or-better scores seven times, including both nights at regionals. She's hit 9.900-or-better nine times in 2026.
- Rowray earned the Corvallis Regional Beam Title with a score of 9.925 on Friday, April 3.
- Rowray won the national title on beam all by herself with a 9.9625 score on April 16. She is the second Gopher ever to win one.
SIX GOPHERS EARN NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS ALL-AMERICA HONORS
- Six Golden Gophers earned NCAA Championships All-America honors on Thursday night, a program-record. Arianna Ostrum earned First Team All-America all-around and second team on vault and beam. Lacie Saltzmann earned First Team All-America on bars while Jordyn Lyden did the same on the floor. Sarah Moraw (beam) and Teryn Crump (bars) earned second team honors as well.
- Brooklyn Rowray became the second Golden Gopher ever to win a national title Thursday. Her 9.9625 took home the beam title. Marie Roethlisberger on the uneven bars in 1990 was the only other Gopher gymnast to take home a national title.
