Second honor of the season
ROSEMONT, Ill. - Minnesota forward Jimmy Snuggerud was named the Big Ten Conference Men's Hockey First Star of the Week by the league office Tuesday. It's his second time picking up a weekly award from the conference this season and sixth of his impressive career, five of which have been as the first star.
Â
Snuggerud continued to find the back of the net for the Golden Gophers and posted a three-goal weekend against Notre Dame. The junior scored twice during Friday's 5-2 victory, including the tying goal in the first period, before adding his second later in the opening frame. It was the 13th time he put away multiple goals in a single game during his career. He followed that by again getting Minnesota even with another first-period goal on Saturday.
Â
A native of Chaska, Minn., Snuggerud has goals in three-straight games and put away eight goals over his last 10 outings to move into second in the NCAA scoring race. He finished the season series versus the Irish with five goals and three assists in four outings and has 15 goals and 33 points to pace the Gophers' offense.
Â
Snuggerud is the second player representing the Maroon and Gold to earn multiple weekly honors this season, joining Brody Lamb, and the team has had a star of the week nine times in 2024-25. He earned the award on Jan. 21 and Nov. 12, while Liam Souliere (Jan. 14), Nathan Airey (Dec. 10), Brody Lamb (Dec. 3 and Oct. 29), Sam Rinzel (Oct. 29), Jimmy Clark (Oct. 22) and Connor Kurth (Oct. 15) have all claimed B1G accolades during the year.
