The Texas native won event titles on vault and bars

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota rookie Teryn Crump was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, the conference Big Ten announced. It's the first time in her career she's earned the award.

Crump was the standout on the uneven bars for the 'U', posting a meet-high 9.875 to win her first ever event title. She also split the vault title with Ava Stewart and Sarah Moraw after they all posted 9.900 scores.

Both marks were career-highs for Crump as she helped lead Minnesota to a season-high score of 197.325. For the year, the Pfluegerville, Texas native has competed in all four meets. She's competed in every event but beam in meet action (non-exhibition).

The Gophers are the only school in the conference to have two different rookie gymnasts earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards.

No. 18 Minnesota (4-0, 2-0 B1G) returns to action Saturday, Feb. 1 for a meet at home against Washington (1-4, 0-2 B1G). The Gophers are one of just three Big Ten teams (12 total) to hold perfect 2-0 league records, joining Michigan State and UCLA.
