Schmitz Named to 2025 Big Ten Players to Watch List

University of Minnesota junior Aiva Schmitz (New Auburn, Wis.) has been named to the 2025 Big Ten Women's Tennis Players to Watch List, the Big Ten Conference announced today. This marks the inaugural year for the conference's Players to Watch list in women's tennis and selected by the league coaches.
Schmitz, named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week on March 12, 2024, enters her third season with the Golden Gophers. She is the longest-tenured player on Minnesota's current roster. During the 2024 fall season, Schmitz posted a 6-3 record in singles play and a 5-3 mark in doubles. She has 42 career singles victories and holds an International Tennis Federation (ITF) singles rating of 16.18.
Minnesota opens the 2025 spring season on Jan. 18 against host Florida Gulf Coast and Middle Tennessee State in Fort Myers, Fla.
