Ante, Kocevar Advance at ITA Central Regional

Norman, Okla. - The University of Minnesota tennis program competed in the second day of the 2025 ITA Central Regional Championships.
All six Golden Gophers competed Friday, with three playing in the main draw singles rounds, two pairs in the main draw doubles, and the rest in consolation play.
Singles Action
Anali Kocevar led the way again, advancing to the round of 32 with a win over North Dakota's Andrea Pineda, 6-4, 6-3. With her win, Kocevar passed the 50 win-mark on her career. She will compete against Gloriana Nahum (Oklahoma) tomorrow in the round of 32.
Mia Liepert fell to Pia Kranholdt of Iowa 6-4, 6-1 in the opening round of the main draw.
Jeselle Ante closed the main draw singles for the day, defeating Drake's Maja Dodik 7(7)-6(4), 7-5. She will continue competing in the main draw tomorrow against Barakat Quadre (Oklahoma) in the round of 32.
Yinong Ma, Sofia Pinto, and Anlin Xie all were defeated in consolation singles rounds today.
Doubles Action
In doubles, Anali Kocevar and Mia Liepert defeated Jimena Gomez and Alexandra Panagiotidou of Arkansas-Fayetteville 8-3 to advance to the round of 16. Kocevar and Liepert later fell in the round of 16 to Julia Garcia Ruiz and Barakat Quadre of Oklahoma 4-8.
Ante and Sofia Pinto lost to Heike Janse Van Vuuren and Kyoka Kubo of Kansas 8-1 in the round of 32.
