MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota men's and women's cross country teams conclude the 2025 regular season with Rocky's Run on Friday, October 24, with both the men's and women's competing in a 5K event that starts near Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon, Heights, Minn.

Members of the public are invited to join the Gophers for an open 5k race on Friday. Registration is open on race-day with the entry fee to participate being $20 per person. The competition will begin at 5 p.m. and will be just one race.

Rocky's Run was founded in 1981 to honor former Gopher runner Rochelle "Rocky" Racette, who died in a car accident that Fall at the age of 22. While at the University of Minnesota, Racette was an All-American in track & field and cross country and champion of the Big Ten and Drake Relays 5,000-meter titles. The annual race is staged by the many members of the running community who knew and loved her. Racette's legacy lives on through the memory of those who knew her, and through Rocky's Run and the scholarship for which it raises money.

LAST TIME OUT
The University of Minnesota cross country program was split between the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wis., and the Pre-Nationals meet in Columbia, Mo., with the men finishing sixth on October 17, in Missouri while the women were 24th at Wisconsin. The Maroon and Gold's top individual finishers were Aidan Jones (44th, 24:02.5) and Isabelle Schmitz (76th, 20:56.7). Additionally, running to an unattached victory in the Nuttycombe Invitational 6K B Race was Ali Weimer who clocked a 20:21.1 in the win.

Halfway through the men's race the Golden Gophers sat in 13th of 32 teams at Gans Greek XC Course, but a surge between the 5K and 7K splits moved the team up to sixth in a quality field that included three USTFCCCA ranked programs and 16 Power-4 programs. Minnesota's women finished 24th overall as a team (585 points), finishing ahead of one USTFCCCA ranked opponent in No. 28 Providence.
