AMES, Iowa - The University of Minnesota tennis team competed in day two of the inaugural Cyclone Invite on Saturday going 1-1 in doubles and 3-1 in singles.
Kansas State Matchup
Minnesota's Jeselle Ante and Sofia Pinto earned an 8-4 doubles win over Kansas State's Diana Smolikova and Margaret Jaraczewski. In singles, Ante defeated Smolikova 6-2, 6-2, while Pinto fell to Jaraczewski in a tight three-set match, 5-7, 6-2, 5-7. Minnesota secured the point by winning two of three matches.
Iowa Matchup
Minnesota's Anlin Xie and Yinong Ma dropped a close doubles match to Iowa's Sally Xu and Eline Bex, 8-6. The Gophers bounced back in singles play, as Xie defeated Xu 7-5, 6-3, and Ma topped Bex 6-1, 7-5, securing the point for Minnesota by winning two of three matches.
