Minnesota Closes Out Weekend at Cyclone Invite

AMES, Iowa - The University of Minnesota tennis team wrapped up at the inaugural Cyclone Invite on Sunday going 0-2 in doubles and 1-3 in singles.Â
Minnesota finished the weekend with a 3–3 record in tournament play, earning two wins over Iowa and one over Kansas State. The Gophers posted a 5–7 record in singles and a 3–4 mark in doubles at the Invite.

Arkansas Matchup
Minnesota fell to Arkansas as the Razorbacks swept all three matches. Arina Babenko and Alexandra Panagiotidou defeated Anlin Xie and Yinong Ma 8-3 in doubles, while Babenko topped Xie 6-4, 6-3, and Panagiotidou earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Ma in singles play.

Iowa Matchup
Minnesota earned the point against Iowa after dropping the doubles match but winning both singles contests. Iowa's Sally Xu and Eline Bex defeated Jeselle Ante and Sofia Pinto 8-4 in doubles, but Ante responded with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Xu, and Pinto followed with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Bex.

Jeselle Ante finished the weekend 3-0 in singles, earning wins over Iowa, Kansas State and Arkansas. She is now 7-1 on the season, leading the team in singles victories.
Ante also picked up a doubles win Saturday, teaming with Sofia Pinto to defeat Kansas State's Diana Smolikova and Margaret Jaraczewski, 8-4.
