McCauley Leads Gophers in Top 10 After Day One at Illini Invitational

MEDINAH, Ill. – The University of Minnesota women's golf team is tied for ninth place after the first day of the Illini Invitational, carding a team score of 291-283—574 (-2) through 36 holes at Medinah Country Club.
Senior Isabella McCauley led the Gophers individually with rounds of 71 and 68, finishing at 5-under-par 139 to sit tied for eighth place. Her second-round 68 was highlighted by five birdies to complete the day.
UCF leads the field at 24-under-par after the first two rounds.
Notable:
Junior Mariana Mesones is tied for 20th place after carding back-to-back rounds of 71 to finish the day at 2-under-par 142.
Senior Olivia Deakins closed the day at 2-over-par 146 (74-72) and sits tied for 51st. She recorded the team's lone eagle of the day on the par-5 16th hole during round two.
Sophomore Reese McCauley posted rounds of 77 and 72 to finish at 5-over-par 149, tied for 72nd place.
Freshman Lauryn Finley sits tied for 74th after recording scores of 75 in both rounds to finish at 6-over-par 150.
