FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
1. Winners of three straight at home, Minnesota (3-2, 1-1 B1G) returns to the friendly confines of Huntington Bank Stadium Saturday for its Homecoming contest against Purdue (2-3, 0-2). Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network and the Gopher Radio Network.
2. All-time, Minnesota is 66-40-3 in its Homecoming Games, including two straight wins. The Golden Gophers are 7-4 all-time against Purdue on Homecoming, tied for its third most wins against one team in Homecoming games. Minnesota's most frequent Homecoming opponent is Northwestern, sporting a 9-8-2 record in 19 games with the Wildcats, while the Gophers' 10 victories over Iowa are their most against one opponent for Homecoming. A full list of games can be found on Page 13 of the notes.
3. As noted above, Minnesota has won all three home games this season. That winning streak at Huntington Bank Stadium is the team's longest since also winning the first three games there in 2023. A win Saturday would give the team its longest home streak since prevailing in the final game of 2021 at home and then winning the first three home contests of the 2022 campaign. The last time the Gophers won their first four home games in a season was in 2019 when they started the year 6-0 in Minneapolis.
4. Redshirt freshman Drake Lindsey is having a standout debut season in the Maroon and Gold. He's 92-of-143 (64.3 percent) for 1,052 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions, good for an efficiency rating of 139.5. According to Pro Football Focus, Lindsey's offensive grade of 88.9 is tied for third among Big Ten quarterback and ranks tied for 12th nationally at the position. His passing grade of 88.5 also leads ranks third in the league and is ninth in the FBS. Prior to Saturday at Ohio State, Lindsey had thrown a touchdown pass in each of his first four career starts. With records dating to 1977, only Adam Weber in 2007 had a longer streak when he had a touchdown pass in his first eight starts. More on Lindsey can be found on Page 4 of the notes.
5. The 2025 campaign is the ninth for P.J. Fleck at Minnesota, making him the fifth-longest tenured coach in program history. His record stands at 61-41, putting him fifth in program history in overall wins and games coached (102), in addition to ranking fourth in Big Ten wins (35). Fleck's .598 win percentage is third best among Minnesota coaches with at least 45 games under their helm behind only Henry L. Williams (.786, 1900-21) and Bernie Bierman (.716, 1932-41, '45-50). In his 13th season overall as a college head coach, Fleck is 91-63 (.591).
