It marks the first time Southern California and UCLA will face Minnesota at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium
MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota women's soccer team returns to action this week with a two-game homestand against Southern California and No. 9 UCLA. The Gophers face the Trojans at 7 p.m. Thursday and the Bruins at 1 p.m. Sunday at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.

Minnesota opens a two-match homestand against USC on Thursday at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium. The Golden Gophers are seeking their first win in the series since 2012, when they defeated Southern California 4-1 in Los Angeles. Last season, the Gophers played to a 2-2 draw against then-No. 24 USC, handing the Trojans their only non-win of the regular and conference seasons.
Scouting the Bruins
No. 9 UCLA visits Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium for the first time in program history this weekend. The Bruins hold a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series, with the first meeting taking place in 2018 during the second round of the NCAA tournament. In 2024, the Gophers faced UCLA in Los Angeles and fell 3-1. Kate Childers scored Minnesota's lone goal in the 60th minute to tie the match, but the Bruins responded with goals in the 71st and 81st minutes to secure the win.
Consistency is Key!
Juniors Paige Kalal and Kate Childers have made 51 consecutive appearances for the Maroon and Gold since their freshman year. Childers has started all 51 games in her career, while Kalal has started 38, including 34 straight dating back to last season.
Kalal leads Minnesota's roster in goals (4), co-leads in assists (2), points (10) and shots (31). Childers also co-leads in assists (2), ranks second overall in goals (3), third in points (6) and has played every minute of every game this season.

Redshirt sophomore Caroline Birdsell scored her second goal of the season at Nebraska. Birdsell scored 47 seconds into the match, marking the fastest goal by a Gopher since Olivia Schultz, who scored 33 seconds into the game against Stetson on Aug. 22, 2014.
