EAST LANSING, Mich. - The University of Minnesota tennis team continued play Saturday at the Spartan Invite at Michigan State University.

The Golden Gophers competed against Indiana and Michigan State in doubles and faced Xaiver in singles.

Doubles Action
Minnesota opened the day with doubles play against Indiana. Anlin Xie and Nora Knezevic earned a 6-4 win over Chase Boyer and Magdalena Swierczynska, while Jeselle Ante and Sofia Pinto also defeated Elisabeth Dunac and Li Hsin Lin 6-4. Mia Liepert and Anali Kocevar came up short in their match, falling to Ameia Sorey and Nicole Teodosecu 4-6.

In the second matchup against Michigan State, Xie and Knezevic fell to Parkins-Godwin and Sarah Fazlagic 0-6. Ante and Pinto dropped a close match to Hanna Tsitavets and Issey Purser 4-6, and Liepert and Kocevar were edged out by Ellie Blackford and Matilde Morrais 6(5)-7(7).

Singles Action
Minnesota earned three singles wins against Xavier on Saturday. Sofia Pinto rallied for a 0-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Emily Flowers, while Nora Knezevic topped Abigail Siminski 6-3, 6-2. Arina Valitova added a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win against Natalie Smitek. Anlin Xie, Jeselle Ante and Mia Liepert each fell in their matches.

Minnesota will wrap up the three-day event tomorrow, with singles competition against Michigan State beginning at 9 a.m.
