Minnesota Returns to Williams Arena to face NJIT

The Gophers grabbed their third win of the season on Tuesday
MINNEAPOLIS - Following its third win of the season, the University of Minnesota women's basketball team (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) returns to Williams Arena on Friday to host NJIT (3-0, 0-0 America East). Tip off is set for 5 p.m. CT and can be streamed live on B1G+ with Marisa Cate and Blythe Whealy. Fans can listen live on KFAN+ with Tanner Hoops and Lynnette Sjoquist on the call.

- The Gophers grabbed their third win of the season Tuesday night, defeating the Marquette Golden Eagles 90-47.
- With the win, Minnesota has now opened the season with three consecutive 90-plus-point games for the first time in program history.
- Tuesday marked the third straight game in which Minnesota has held its opponent below 40% shooting.
- The Maroon and Gold have shot better than 50% in their last two games and have recorded fewer than nine turnovers in their last three.
- As a team, Minnesota recorded 24 assists against Manhattan and Marquette, its most since facing Penn State on Dec. 28, 2024.
- Sophie Hart and Tori McKinney have scored in double figures in Minnesota's last three games. Hart and McKinney rank No. 2 and No. 3 on the team in scoring, averaging 14.5 and 14 points, respectively.
- The Gophers had four players score in double figures Tuesday, marking the fourth straight game in which four or more have done so. Minnesota was led by Grace Grocholski (19), followed by McKinney (16), Hart (14) and Brylee Glenn (13).
- On Tuesday, Mara Braun and Amaya Battle led the Gophers with seven assists each. Battle also had 11 rebounds, a single-game high for Minnesota. Braun added nine points, six rebounds, two steals and no turnovers.
- Following Tuesday's game, Battle sits at 498 career assists. With two more, she will become one of five Gophers to record at least 1,000 points and 500 assists.
SERIES HISTORY
- Friday's game marks the third meeting between Minnesota and NJIT first since 2015.

- The Highlanders were selected to finish fifth in the America East preseason poll. Last season, NJIT made its fifth consecutive appearance in the conference tournament and concluded its season with an 11-19 overall mark and 8-18 America East record.Â
- The Highlanders are off to a 3-0 start to the season, defeating Sacred Heart, Fordham, and Wagner. Friday marks their third road game in their last four contests.Â
- Senior Alejandra Zuniga was selected to the America East Preseason All-Conference team. She's a three-time America East All-Conference selection. She was named America East Rookie of the Year her freshman season.Â
- Returning for her sophomore season, Olivia Kulyk returns after a successful freshman campaign. Kulyk was named 2024-25 America East Rookie of the Year. Last season, she was a 10-time America East Rookie of the Week selection, tying the conference record. In 2024-25, she scored in double-figures in 19 contests.
