Eight Gophers Score to Cap Off Series Sweep of Bemidji State
11/15/2025 5:31:00 PM | Women's Hockey
MINNEAPOLIS – Seven Gophers recorded multi-point performances as the No. 2-ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team rolled to a 9-2 win over Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena.
Minnesota struck early and often, beginning with Emma Kreisz's opener just 4:30 into the first period. Off a feed from behind the net by Josefin Bouveng, Kreisz ripped a one-timer from the high slot off the bar and in for a 1-0 lead.
The advantage doubled at 6:11 when freshman defender Chloe Primerano unleashed a heavy wrist shot from the top of the left circle through traffic to make it 2-0. The Gophers extended the margin to 3-0 at 12:01, as Maddie Kaiser's low shot created a rebound that Tereza Plosova gathered and tucked home for her fifth career goal.
Minnesota kept rolling in the second. Bella Fanale punched in a rebound off an Abbey Murphy chance at 3:56 to put the Gophers ahead 4-0. Bemidji State responded with back-to-back tallies at 10:07 and 11:39 to cut the deficit to 4-2.
The Gophers quickly regained control, restoring a three-goal lead at 12:38. Kaiser dropped a pass to Molly Jordan, who sent a shot-pass to a cutting Jamie Nelson who tipped it home for the 5-2 edge.
Minnesota erupted for three more goals early in the third. Plosova found Fanale cutting through the slot for her second of the night, before Ava Lindsay buried a backdoor feed from Murphy to make it 7-2. Sydney Morrow added another highlight-reel goal at 6:56, toe-dragging through the right circle and firing high blocker side for an 8-2 advantage.
Freshman Sydney Bailey capped the scoring at 8:40, netting her first career goal with a five-hole finish to secure Minnesota's dominant 9-2 victory.
Quotable
"A really solid hockey game," said Head Coach Brad Frost. "We had a lapse there for a couple minutes where we gave up a couple odd-man rushes. From an offensive standpoint, we talked a lot about getting to the net, getting pucks and bodies to the net with our net drive. Our players did an amazing job, seven out of our nine goals there were from net front presence. Overall, I'm really happy with the win."
