The Gophers set the marks at both the Meyo Invitational and the Midwest Classic.
MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota posted six different program top 10 marks/times while at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind., and the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. Ali Weimer led the way in the race of the weekend where three different Gophers posted top 10 indoor 5000m times at Notre Dame.Â
Weimer's lifetime best in the indoor 5K of 16:03.74 came at the Meyo Invitational on Friday night. Weimer's win led the way for a swift race that ended with Emma Atkinson finishing third overall with a 16:25.05, which goes down as the No. 9 5000m time in indoor history at Minnesota. Additionally Izzy Roemer was just behind Atkinson and slid into the No. 10 spot in the indoor 5000m all-time at the 'U'.Â
Earlier in the evening the Maroon and Gold saw its fastest Distance Medley Relay (DMR) in seven years when Isabelle Schmitz, Hailey Anchor, Zoie Dundon and Erin Reidy posted an 11:09.65 to win the Meyo Invite. The time goes down as the fourth-fastest time in program history.Â
Minnesota's third program top 10 performance on Friday was Hadley Streit in the women's hammer at the Midwest Classic. Streit posted a lifetime best of 21.17m (69-5 1/2) to finish as the meet's runner up to teammate Anthonett Nabwe (21.27m | 69-9 1/2). Streit has now improved her lifetime best compared to 2024 by nearly four feet and is seventh all-time at Minnesota.Â
The final program top 10 performance once again involved Schmitz. The true freshman clocked a 4:40.15 in the Meyo Invitational and her time is the fastest in the indoor mile at Minnesota since 2022 (Abby Kohut-Jackson, 4:35.36). The performance for Schmitz helped her finish fourth overall in South Bend.Â
On top of the historical performances, Minnesota also picked up a number of event victories in Indiana over the weekend. The women's 4x400m relay team of Dyandra Gray, Abigail Schaaffe, Kitania Headley and Kendra Kelley won the Midwest Classic in a season-best time of 3:39.34. Lexy Berger cleared a season-best 4.11m (13-5 3/4) to win the Midwest Classic pole vault competition.
