Minnesota Hits the Road to Face Purdue on Wednesday

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota women's basketball team (19-8, 7-8 B1G) will face Purdue (9-16, 2-12 B1G) on the road at Mackey Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. CT and will be streamed on B1G+ while Justin Gaard and Lynnette Sjoquist will broadcast the game on KFAN+.

  • Minnesota and Purdue have met 73 times in their history, with Minnesota winning five out of the last seven matchups. Minnesota captured a 60-58 win over the Boilermakers at Williams Arena in December of 2023. Minnesota has won two straight over Purdue. 
  • During their last trip to West Lafayette on January 21st, 2023, the Gophers lost 75-56. The Gophers will be looking for their first win at Purdue since January 19th, 2020.

  • Minnesota set a program record this season with 12 nonconference wins, surpassing the previous high of 11 set in seven different seasons, most recently in 2018-19.
  • The Maroon & Gold's game against Ohio State marked the third time this season that five players have scored in double digits, (Montana, Illinois, Ohio State). 
  • On 10 occasions, four have scored in double figures. (Nebraska, Prairie View A&M, UMass Lowell, Illinois, Houston, Rutgers, Maryland, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Oregon).
  • Senior Sophie Hart set a career high 21 points against Ohio State. In her last seven games, Hart has re-set her career high three times and is averaging 13.3 points per game. She's hit double figures in her last five of seven games.
  • Junior guard Amaya Battle became the 28th Gopher to reach 1,000 career points against Indiana. Battle also has 484 career rebounds. This season she leads Minnesota in points (325), steals (49), assists (112), and is second overall in rebounds (138).
  • Junior forward Mallory Heyer became the first Gopher since the 2022-23 season to record back-to-back double-doubles. Against the Hawkeyes, Heyer collected 10 points and 10 rebounds. She followed up against the Hoosiers collecting 10 points and 13 rebounds. Her 14 rebounds against Oregon are a team high this season. She leads all Gophers with 204 boards and is eighth in the Big Ten.
