MINNEAPOLIS -- For a Big Ten leading fourth time this season University of Minnesota women's track and field redshirt sophomore Anthonett Nabwe has been named the Big Ten's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon. Nabwe is the only female student-athlete to have earned a weekly distinction from the conference four different times this indoor season.
Nabwe posted the No. 1 NCAA weight throw mark this season (23.56m | 77-3 3/4) to win the Snowshoe Open to close out the indoor regular season. Nabwe's new lifetime best weight throw of 23.56m (77-3 3/4) at the Snowshoe Open improved her No. 3 mark in school history and helped the redshirt sophomore finish undefeated in the event in the regular season, winning all seven meets she threw in. Nabwe also captured the shot put win at the Snowshoe Open with her second-best throw of the indoor season (17.16m | 56-3 3/4).
