B1G Weekly Honor for Gophers' Snuggerud

Third time as the B1G First Star this season
ROSEMONT, Ill. - For the third time this season, Golden Gophers' captain Jimmy Snuggerud earned Big Ten Conference Men's Hockey First Star of the Week honors, it was announced by the league office Tuesday. It's his seventh time picking up a weekly award from the league over his career and sixth time as the first star.
Snuggerud has been on another level of late and thanks to the second four-point game of his career versus No. 17/18 Wisconsin last Friday, took over as the NCAA's scoring leader with 41 points, including a B1G-best 17 goals in 18 league appearances. Facing a 2-0 deficit in the second period Friday, he scored a goal via an incredible shot to get Minnesota on the board and kick-start the come-from-behind victory. The junior added a goal and two assists during the final frame, extending his career-long goal streak to six games, totaling nine goals in that span.
A native of Chaska, Minn., Snuggerud had seven multi-point efforts in a nine-game stretch during the month of January. He also became the third player in Gophers' history to score 20 or more goals in three-consecutive seasons to begin a college career, joining M Club Hall of Famers John Mayasich and Dick Dougherty, who both hit the milestone more than 70 years ago in 1953-54. He finished the weekend sweep with a team-best plus-five rating.
Snuggerud is one of two players representing the Maroon and Gold to earn multiple weekly honors this season, joining Brody Lamb, and marks the 10th star of the week award for Minnesota in 2024-25. Snuggerud previously earned the award on Jan. 21 and Nov. 12, while Liam Souliere (Jan. 14), Nathan Airey (Dec. 10), Brody Lamb (Dec. 3 and Oct. 29), Sam Rinzel (Oct. 29), Jimmy Clark (Oct. 22) and Connor Kurth (Oct. 15) have all claimed B1G accolades during the year.
