• The University of Minnesota men's basketball program earned the No. 12 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament, which will be held March 12-16 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. With the expansion of the Big Ten Conference to 18 teams, the 2025 season marks the first to feature a 15-team postseason conference tournament. The Golden Gophers will face No. 13 seed Northwestern at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12. The winner of that game will face No. 5 seed Wisconsin on Thursday. The 2025 tournament marks the 14th time it has been held in Indianapolis as the Gophers are 12-11 all-time when the tournament has been held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
• Minnesota is 6-2 all-time against Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament, which began in 1998 (including vacated games). The last time the Gophers faced the Wildcats in the event was in 2021 when No. 13 seed Minnesota beat No. 12 seed Northwestern 51-46 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
• Northwestern earned a 75-63 win in the two team's lone meeting on February 28. Dawson Garcia finished with 26 points and nine rebounds, but Northwestern jumped out to an early lead and never trailed. Frank Mitchell also finished in double figures for Minnesota with 10 points. Femi Odukale added seven points, seven boards, and team-highs of five assists and three blocks.
• The Gophers are looking to return to the win column after a 75-67 overtime loss at Rutgers on Sunday. Dawson Garcia had 19 points and eight rebounds, and Frank Mitchell had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, allowing Minnesota to rally from an 11-point second-half deficit and force overtime, but Rutgers held on for a 75-67 win at Jersey Mike's Arena.
Frank Mitchell collected his third double-double of the season and second in as many games during the loss. He now has 18 double-doubles in two years. Dawson Garcia had his 26th double-figure game of the year. He averages a team-best 19.1 points this season.

GARCIA NAMED SECOND-TEAM ALL-BIG
