Four Gophers Earn NCAA Bids on Second Day of Zone Diving Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Four members of the University of Minnesota diving team clinched spots in the 2025 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on day two of the Zone D Diving Championships, with two divers adding a second event to their NCAA schedule.

Elna Widerstrom and Addie Albrecht each qualified in the 1-meter on Tuesday. Widerstrom finished sixth with a score of 593.60 and Albrecht finished eighth with a score of 586.50.

YuTong Wang and Vivi Del Angel both added an additional NCAA bid after they each secured one in yesterday's events. Today, Wang took the fifth spot in the men's 1-meter with a score of 747.00 and Del Angel finished ninth with a score of 584.65 in the women's 3-meter. 

Previously, Wang secured his first NCAA event in the men's 1-meter, and Del Angel previously qualified in the women's 3-meter.

Four more Gophers dove on Tuesday, each finishing outside the finals-qualifying placement. 

Braylon Goodno also competed in the 3-meter finals, taking twelfth with a score of 677.75. Drew Bennett finished 16th in the 3-meter finals with a score of 655.95 

In the women's 1-meter prelims, Kate LaMonica placed 29th with a score of 259.40 and Gabby Mauder finished 35th with a 250.50.

The Zone Diving Championships continue on Wednesday with the platform events.
