OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. --Senior Taylor Krapf went 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI for the Minnesota Golden Gophers (13-15, 2-2) in a 5-1 loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions (13-14, 1-3) on Sunday.

Junior Sydney Schwartz (4-8) got the ball to start for Minnesota and took the loss. Freshman Natalie Susa was a bright spot for the Gophers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing three innings, giving up one run on three hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The 'U' got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Krapf put Minnesota on the board with a one-out solo home run off senior M Volpe. The Gophers were unable to hold the lead, as Penn State scored five times over the remaining six innings to grab the 5-1 win.

GAME NOTES

» Minnesota's highest scoring inning was the first, when it pushed one run across.
» Minnesota pitchers faced 28 Penn State hitters in the game, allowing seven ground balls and four fly balls while striking out four.
» Krapf led the Gophers at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI.
» Penn State was led offensively by senior H Brunson, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
» Freshman A Britton led the Nittany Lions pitching staff, throwing three shutout innings.

The 'U' will be back in action on Friday. They will head to Lincoln to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a 3 game weekend B1G series. All games scheduled to take place at Bowlin Stadium.
