MINNEAPOLIS - Audrey Wethington was recognized as the 2024-25 recipient of the NCAA's Elite 90 Award on Thursday evening, as the Gophers compete in the 2025 NCAA Frozen Four at Ridder Arena.

The Elite 90 Award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The Elite 90 Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.

Wethington becomes the second-ever student-athlete from the Minnesota women's hockey program to earn an Elite 90 honor, following Anna Barlow during the 2016-17 season.

The fifth-year forward from Edina has tallied 71 points with 21 goals and 50 assists over her program-record 174 collegiate games played. Wethington was also a 2025 Hockey Humanitarian Award nominee, a 2024-25 NACDA Allstate Good Works Winter Team selection, a top-three finalist for both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 WCHA Outstanding-Student Athlete honor, a four-time selection for WCHA Scholar-Athlete and the WCHA All-Academic Team, a 2024 and 2025 PNC Achiever Award Recipient, a 2023 Elite-90 Award runner-up, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, and a three-time 2021-22 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.

Wethington is currently completing a master's degree in Biological Sciences after already completing a bachelor's degree in the same field. She will be going to medical school to become a physician.
