GREENVILLE S.C. – The University of Minnesota women's golf team finished round one of the Lady Paladin in fifth place. The Golden Gophers carded a team score of 288 (E) at the Furman Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
Junior Mariana Mesones led the Gophers individually with a 3-under-par 69. She grabbed four birdies to end the day tied for sixth place.
Alabama sits in first place with a team score of 282 (-6).
Notable:
Senior Olivia Deakins closed the day with an even round 72. She is tied for 16th place after snagging two birdies.
Isabella McCauley ended her first 18 holes tied for 27th place after penciling a 1-over-par 73. Sophomore Reese McCauley closed out her first round with a 2-over-par 74 to sit tied for 36th place.
Senior Madison Le is tied for 67th place after shooting a day one 6-over-par 78.
Competing as an individual, freshman Lauryn Finley carded a 4-over-par 76 and will enter the second round tied for 53rd.
