College Gym News released their preseason event lists
MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota freshmen Arianna Ostrum (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) and Lacie Saltzmann (Charlotte, N.C.) were recognized as some of the most anticipated freshmen to watch by College Gym News.
The gymnastics news outlet included ten level 10s and five elite gymnasts on each event by considering past scores and performances, as well as their potential to shine at the NCAA level. Ostrum was named as one of the top-15 most anticipated freshmen on vault, beam and all-around. Saltzmann made the bars list.
Prior to Minnesota, Ostrum was a three-time Wisconsin All-Around State Champion and a five-time Wisconsin State Beam Champion. At the Wisconsin state meet, she placed first in the all-around (38.150), vault (9.450), uneven bars (9.800) and floor (9.675). She also placed second on beam with a score of 9.225. A three-time nationals' qualifier, Ostrum finished first on beam at development nationals and 10th in the all-around in 2024.
Although she is from North Carolina, Saltzmann competed for Texas Dreams Gymnastics in club. At the Texas State Championships, Saltzman took first place in the all-around (38.950), uneven bars (9.800), balance beam (9.740) and floor (9.775). In the 2024 Maccabi Pan Am Games, she took first in the all-around, uneven bars and floor while placing second on beam and vault, helping her team win the meet. For her senior elite season, she competed in the Winter Cup, American Classic and Core Classic. She was the 2023 Texas State Beam Champ.
Minnesota gymnastics will open its 2025-26 season on Friday, Dec. 19 with an intrasquad scrimmage at Maturi Pavilion. The meet will begin at 11 a.m.
