9/24/2025 1:55:00 PM | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
Taylor Isabel, Norah Hushagen and Nolan Sutter all picked up honors.
MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota hauled in three of the Big Ten Conference's Cross Country weekly awards after the 2025 Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 19. Taylor Isabel claimed the women's Athlete of the Week while freshmen Norah Hushagen and Nolan Sutter swept the Freshman of the Week honors.
Isabel's honor is the first women's Athlete of the Week conference honor since Ali Weimer in 2024 when she won the 2024 Roy Griak Invitational. The redshirt sophomore was Minnesota's top finisher (6th) at the 2025 Roy Griak Invitational, where the Maroon and Gold finished second as a team. Isabel's sixth-place time of 21:53.5 was 60 seconds better than her 2024 time on the same course and improved her from 51st to 6th overall.
Sutter is the first Gopher to earn a weekly conference award on the men's side since Noah Kohut-Jackson in 2024 when he claimed the top spot at the 2024 Oz Memorial. At the Griak Sutter finished as Minnesota's highest individual finisher (5th). He clocked an 8K lifetime best of 25:07.3 to finish fifth at the 2025 Roy Griak Invitational, the highest placing freshman finisher in the field of 115 runners. Sutter became the first freshman to finish as Minnesota's top runner at the Roy Griak Invitational since Emmet Anderson in 2022.
In her first race in uniform Hushagen was the top freshman finisher at the 2025 Roy Griak Invitational, placing 10th in a 6K time of 22:11.4. At 10th overall, Hushagen was third among the Minnesota lineup that finished second as a team at the 2025 Roy Griak Invitational. Hushagen's 10th-place finish as a freshman at the Roy Griak Invitational made her the first Minnesota freshman to finish that high at the Griak in at least 10 years.
Next the Maroon and Gold send a majority of the squad to the Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill., on October 3. Another portion of the team will compete at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational in Eau Claire, Wis., which will also take place on October 3.
