Ante Advances on Day One of Milwaukee Tennis Classic

ELM GROVE, Wis. - The University of Minnesota tennis team opened play Thursday at the 49th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic.

Anali Kocevar and Mia Liepert, the tournament's No. 1 seed in doubles, earned a first-round bye before falling 6-4 in the round of 16 to Miami (Ohio)'s Allie Faulkner and Maria Lucia Oliveira.

Jeselle Ante defeated Evelyn Risner of Miami (Ohio) 6-3, 6-2 to close the day for Minnesota. Ante will face Wisconsin's Parker Christenson in the round of 32 on Friday at 11 a.m. (CT).

Next Up
The 49th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic will continue tomorrow, with the singles round of 32 beginning after doubles play at Western Racquet Club in Elm Grove.

Minnesota's Aiva Schmitz, Anali Kocevar, Jeselle Ante, and Mia Liepert will compete in the singles round of 32 and will play again if they advance.
