CHICAGO, Ill. -- Gophers freshman Lacie Saltzmann has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced today.
The Charlotte, N.C., native had a career meet on Saturday against Nebraska. She earned her first ever event title, going 9.900 (a career-best) on the uneven bars. She totaled another career-best with a 9.875 in the lead off spot on the floor, helping Minnesota to a season-best 49.350 total on the event.
For the season, Saltzmann has participated in all four meets, averaging 9.831 on uneven bars and 9.819 on the floor. She ranks second on Minnesota on the uneven bars and fourth on the floor.
No. 18 Minnesota (3-2, 1-1 B1G) is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31 for Alumni Day vs. No. 24 Iowa (4-3, 1-1 B1G) at Maturi Pavilion. The meet is set for 4 p.m. CT on B1G+.
