MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota women's track and field team will be featured in three different meets this weekend, highlighted by the Jack Johnson Classic at the University Fieldhosue in Minneapolis, Minn. on January 30. The Maroon and Gold also are sending student-athletes to the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind., and the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
ABOUT THE JACK JOHNSON CLASSIC
The 2026 Jack Johnson Classic begins at 2 p.m. on January 30, with the men's weight throw while the track events begin with the women's 60m at 3:30 p.m. The meet, being held at the University Fieldhouse in Minneapolis, Minn., is set to wrap up by 6 p.m. on Friday. The event is free and open to the public to attend. There will be no live stream of the Jack Johnson Classic, but fans can follow live results via WayzataTiming.com.
PARKING NOTICE - With multiple athletic events being held on campus this weekend, fans are encouraged to arrive early to all events. For the Jack Johnson Classic - day of parking is available at University Ave. Ramp and Washington Ave. ramp (based on availability). Minnesota's men's and women's hockey teams both compete at 7 p.m. on Friday, which is near the conclusion of the Jack Johnson Classic. Fans can purchase a parking pass in advance here.

The 2026 Meyo Invitational is a two-day competition in South Bend, Ind., with action beginning on January 30, at 11 a.m. with the Pentathlon. Minnesota is scheduled to only bring its women's distance team to the meet. Day two of the Meyo Invitational will start at 10 a.m., and will conclude around 4:30 p.m. local time. There is no live stream scheduled as of January 29, for the Meyo Invite, but fans can follow along live via EnduranceRaceTiming.com.
MARTINSON SCHEDULED TO COMPETE IN FAYETTEVILLE
Minnesota is set to bring Kennedy Martinson to the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Pentathlon. The 2025 Big Ten Indoor Championships scorer holds a career-best score of 3,995 points in the event which ranks the redshirt sophomore fifth all-time in the event. Action for Martinson begins on Friday January 30, at 12 p.m. with the 60m hurdles and will conclude at 5:35 p.m. the same day with the Pentathlon 800m. The Razorback Invitational live stream via SEC Network+ is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., so only Martinson's 800m event will be available to watch live. LAST TIME OUT
The University of Minnesota track and field team had a small group of student-athletes at the Stan Scott Invitational in Lubbock, Texas on January 23. Sofia Condon picked up an event win in the women's pole vault with a season-best clearance. Condon's season-best mark of 4.06m (13-3 3/4) helped her secure her second win in the event this season in four competitions. Condon's lifetime best of 4.15m (13-7 1/4) in the pole vault sits her at fifth all-time indoors at the University of Minnesota.
Minnesota had a few other season-best performances down in Texas, two of them being on the straightaway. Victory Godah's 7.428 was the ninth-best among competitors while Zariah Greaves put down a time of 7.50 in her Gopher debut. Godah also put forth a time of 24.167 in the 200m later in the day, a time that is a season-best for the Nigerian who is the No. 2 all-time 200m runner indoors in program history.
MINNESOTA IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
The University of Minnesota women's track and field team came in at No. 22 in the first 2026 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings, the organization announced on January 27. Minnesota's No. 22 ranking is the best indoors for the women since February 5, 2024, when the squad was also No. 22. That season Minnesota went on to finish 26th at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston, Mass.
The Maroon and Gold also had four different events that were ranked inside the top 15 Event Squad rankings, which measures the cumulative depth of a team's top athletes in specific disciplines. The women's team had four different event groups that were ranked inside the top 15 nationally, highlighted by the No. 2 weight throw contingent of Anthonett Nabwe, Hadley Streit, Rejoice Agbewodie and Ella Pavlovich (21.16m (69-5 1/4) average) with Nabwe leading the way with the No. 1 NCAA mark at 23.74m (77-10 3/4). Zoie Dundon and Isabelle Schmitz led the way for Minnesota's 800m (2:09.51 average) and Mile (4:43.45 average) groups that come in at No. 6 and No. 12 nationally. Lastly the young 400m quartet of Zeal Kuku, Ellie Kuechle, LauBenra Ben and Kitania Headley were ranked No. 14 nationally (55.55 average).
WIRTH BRINGS HOME WORLD BRONZE MEDAL
For the first time in history, the United States of America secured a U20 World Cross Country Championships men's team medal finish on home soil on January 10, in Tallahassee. Minnesota's Salvador Wirth finished 30th overall, and fifth among the U.S. competitors, to aid the team finish that brought home the red, white and blue a bronze medal.
Wirth competed alongside Minnesota teammates Norah Hushagen and Avery Marasco-Johnson, who ran for the women's team at Apalachee Regional Park. The University of Minnesota was the only NCAA team to have three representatives on the U20 rosters. Wirth clocked an 8K time of 25:39 on a course that included non-traditional features like a man-made 'rollercoaster' hill, a sand pit, a water pit, a mud pit and alligator logs to hurdle. Hushagen ran to a 53rd-place finish (22:33.0) in her U.S. debut while Marasco-Johnson came across in 58th overall (23:01.0) and helped Team USA finish in fourth overall (108 points). Additionally, Minnesota signee Oliver Crowe finished 54th in the same U20 men's race on Saturday for Team Canada in his first appearance on the world stage for his home country.
UP NEXT
Next week the women's track and field program will be once again split up between two meets. The Gopher Classic will be held at the University Fieldhouse on February 7, while another portion of the team will take their talents to the Fairgrounds Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind., at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion, the same facility where the 2026 Big Ten Indoor Championships will take place at in late February.
