The Golden Gophers are back at Williams Arena on Thursday night

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota women's basketball team (10-4, 1-2 Big Ten) continues its conference schedule Thursday night at Williams Arena, hosting the Northwestern Wildcats (6-9, 0-4 Big Ten). Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on B1G+. Fans can also listen on KFAN+ 96.7 FM with Justin Gaard and Lynnette Sjoquist on the call.

  • The Golden Gophers are ranked No. 15 in this week's NET rankings and are one of eight Big Ten teams in the top 25.
  • The Gophers rank eighth nationally and third in the Big Ten in assist-to-turnover ratio (243/145), second nationally and first in the conference in fewest turnovers per game (10.4), and first nationally and in the Big Ten in scoring defense (51.4 points per game).
  • Minnesota dropped its second conference game Monday, falling 70-60 to No. 9 Michigan at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Gophers held the Wolverines to 10 points in the first quarter, marking Michigan's lowest-scoring quarter at home this season. 
  • Mara Braun and Grace Grocholski combined for 36 points against No. 9 Michigan on Monday. Grocholski led the Gophers with 22 points and eight rebounds, followed by Braun with 14 points.
  • Braun and Grocholski each reached 1,000 career points this season. With those milestones, Minnesota now has three active 1,000-point scorers, including Amaya Battle. Brylee Glenn is nearing the mark with 896 career points.
  • Amaya Battle has recorded 532 career assists and ranks fourth in Minnesota history. She needs 12 more to surpass Shayne Mullaney (544) for third on the program's career assists list.

ABOUT THE NORTHWESTERN GAME
  • Minnesota and Northwestern are meeting for the 81st time, with the series tied 40-40. The series began in 1977.
  • Northwestern coach Joe McKeown is in his 40th season as a head coach and his 18th season leading the Wildcats.
  • The Gophers hold a two-game winning streak over the Wildcats. In the last meeting, Grocholski recorded her first career double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Battle and Tori McKinney added 18 and 13 points, respectively.
