Finished his first year of compeation with an overall record of 14-7 • recorded three pins and three major decisions • won his first title at the North County Open with a 13-3 major decision over Carther Ash of Southwest Minnesota State University and a pair of decisions over Andrew Peralta of MSU-Moorhead (3-0) and Nikolas Bogojevic Augsburg (3-2) before scoring a pin at 4:52 of the championship bout over Gerad Fugleberg MSU-Moorhead • went 3-0 at the Husky Open with a major decision to reach the heavyweight final, where he dropped a 4-0 decision to top-seeded Jake Kahnke of St. Cloud State • finished fourth at the Kaufman-Border Open • earned his third letter.

2009-10 • REDSHIRTED:
Posted an impressive freshman campaign with a 17-4 mark and seven falls • won his last six matches • earned championships at the North Country Open on 1/30, and the Kaufman-Brand Open on 11/21 • first win in the maroon and gold came in his first career match as a 3-2 win over Carter Ash of Southwest Minnesota in the first round of the Bison Open on 11/14 • first fall as a Gopher came in the first round came in 1:58 over John Close of Labette CC at the Kaufman-Brand Open on 11/21 • closed season with a 4-0 mark to win the North Country Open on 1/30, beating Bret Oswald of UW-Stevens Point 3-2 in the championship match • went 4-1 to place third at the Worthington Open on 1/16, beating Chris Brassell of St. Cloud State in the third place match • went 2-2 at the Dragon Open on 12/5 and did not place • went 4-0 in the Kaufman-Brand Amateur Division to earn champion honors, beating Taylor Escamilla of Nebraska-Omaha 6-5 in the title match • opened the season and his career with a 3-1 mark at the Bison Open, placing third • beat Tom Bouressa of Concordia 3-2 in the third place match at the Bison Open, and only loss came to teammate Tony Nelsen by a 0-7 final.

2009 graduate of Anoka High School • teammate or fellow Gopher newcomer Jake Deitchler • coached by former Golden Gopher Brandon Paulson • four-time wrestling letter winner • earned All-State and All-America honors as a junior and senior • placed third at the 2008 Minnesota high school tournament • posted a 40-6 overall record as a junior • won 95 career matches, winning a state championship and leading his team to a third place finished at the state meet in 2007 • named a Junior National Greco-Roman All-American • earned high honors for academics • 2008 second team academic all-state selection.
