SENIOR SEASON: Served as Minnesota's kicker against UNLV, converting on 6-of-7 PATs and on 1-of-2 field goals (made 25 yarder, missed 50 yarder) ? kicked off nine times and notched three touchbacks ? was perfect at New Mexico State, as he made five point-after attempts and field goals from 45, 22 and 27 yards ? registered three touchbacks on nine kickoffs ? made all three point-after attempts against Western Illinois and also notched two touchbacks on five kickoffs ? converted a 22-yard field goal and was successful on four point-after attempts against San Jose State ? averaged 62.5 yards on two kickoffs and kicked one point-after attempt against Iowa ? connected on a 44-yard field goal and a 27-yard field goal at Michigan, where he also averaged 65.0 yards on four kickoffs ? connected on field goals of 34 and 38 yards at Northwestern and notched four touchbacks and five kickoffs ? named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week after kicking two field goals (26 and 45 yards) and four extra points against Nebraska ? connected on all six point-after attempts at Indiana ? made a 45-yard field goal and three extra points against Penn State ? kicked on extra point against Wisconsin ? converted a 21-yard field goal at Michigan State.
2012 ? JUNIOR?SEASON: Played in two games ? kicked off once against New Hampshire for 65 yards ? also saw action vs. Michigan, where he attempted one onside kick.
2011 ? SOPHOMORE?SEASON: Played in seven games during first season as a Gopher ? handled all the Gophers' placekicking duties through the first seven weeks of the season, before suffering a leg injury ? converted 14-of-15 PAT attempts and 6-of-9 field goals with a long of 47 yards. Game-by-Game: Was a perfect 2-of-2 on PATs in the season-opener at Southern California ? hit 1-of-3 field goals at USC ? connected on 3-of-3 FG attempts vs. Miami (Ohio) ? hit a 36-yarder vs. North Dakota State and was 3-of-3 on PATs against the Bison ? one kickoff went for touchback at Michigan ? four kickoffs for 266 yards and one touchback for average of 66.5 yards at Purdue ? made a 47-yard FG, his longest of season, at Purdue ? three kickoffs for 196 yards for an average of 65.3 yards against Nebraska.
2010 (NORTH?CAROLINA?STATE): Walked on at North Carolina State ? saw action in three games for the Wolfpack in 2010 ? was primary placekicker vs. Wake Forest when starter went down with an injury ? successful on 5-of-5 PATs a 25-yard field goal vs. the Demon Deacons ? kicked off 17 times with one touchback.
HIGH?SCHOOL: Helped lead Leesville Road to a 9-4 record in 2009 ? the Pride advanced to the second round of the North Carolina 4A playoffs during his senior season ? kicked off 72 times with 31 touchbacks ? converted 8-of-8 field-goal attempts and was 44-of-46 on PATS during his one year of high school football ? also served as the team's punter, averaging more than 37 yards per punt ? coached by David Green.
PERSONAL: Chris Hawthorne was born March 12, 1992 ? son of Michael and Evelyn Hawthorne ? business and marketing education major ? Big Ten Conference representative for the Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, becoming the first Gopher to hold this position.
